Buddy - 2 years

Calling all nurturing kind Ladies! … listen up … here’s a boy just for you!
Meet our Buddy, an adorable, 2 year 7 month old, entire Border Collie/Lab cross.
Buddy’s looking for a female only home, without dogs, or cats, with someone who wants a best furry friend, at the heart of her life to bond with. He’d prefer a quiet home that’s either edge of village/small town, close to countryside, semi rural, or rural.
Buddy craves the consistency and security of an uncomplicated, but active life, with his special lady human/s, where men won’t be regularly darkening your doorstep, and he can be a treasured mummy’s boy!
Young Buddy’s had a very rough time at the hands of an unkind man, and he’d love a new start, with a kind, patient, committed human mum, who’ll work with him, at his pace, to help Buddy leave the effects of those bad experiences behind him.
Buddy can pull, from excitement initially, and then walks well on his lead, even walking to heel when he’s into his stride.
He ignores some dogs, is quickly learning ‘leave’ with others and ignores sheep.
Buddy’s a nice dog, he’s very intelligent and receptive to training, helped by his love of food and treats, thanks to the Lab influence!
This boy will do anything for the promise of JR pets 100% meat pate!
Buddy is ready for his happy ever after! He will absolutely thrive with a firm but fair female hand.
NOTE: Any ladies interested in applying for Buddy, who are a match for his needs, can chat with Lynn about him in the first instance, and MUST be willing to travel to meet him, spend time with him, and walk with him, at least twice, at our HQ in Ammanford, Wales (by appointment only).
Look at that face - so worth a couple of road trips!
Buddy will have lost all he’s previously known when he arrives at your door. It’s normal for him to show confusion, anxiety, and his behaviour may regress until he’s settled in to a calm consistent routine, and has built trust with you.
Please, only apply if you’ll give Buddy that chance … the time, the patience, and love to transition into your home.

Evie - 9 years (RESERVED)

B/W spayed medium coated female collie.

Calling all lovers of mature border collies! Stop now, and take a look at the lovely Evie ……

Evie is a good and loving girl for her humans, obeying their instructions most of the time. A touch of selective hearing when her walk is over, but she will always come.

Evie loves children, is good with them, and will follow them around, ever in the hope of a ball game - like many collies, she’s ball obsessed.

Evie adores running around on an empty beach, so out of season coastal trips are definitely on her want list! And Evie is always up for a game of find the treats.

She doesn’t use a crate, has no separation anxiety and can be left for 4 hours.

You’re probably wondering, does she nip? Bite? Chew things? Show toy/food aggression? Bark or howl excessively? Car & bike chase?

The answer is a big fat NO to all of the above.

Evie knows 10 commands and would love to show you how she responds.

Evie is searching for her perfect home, which would be in a rural, even remote setting, with adult human/s with or without dog savvy children, and where she can be the only dog.

Where there’s fields from the door including a secure area where she can run to her heart’s content. And where she’d never be expected to walk around streets - she’s a rural girl at heart you see, and the village or suburban life isn’t for Evie.

She just loves the freedom and the solitude of a country life.

Evie does have some quirks, of course - find me a collie who doesn’t! Full disclosure will be available to applicants.

Can you open your heart to offer Evie her dream home?

Please note: Evie will have lost all she’s previously known, when she arrives at your door. It’s normal for her to show confusion, anxiety, and her behaviour may regress until you’ve settled her in to a calm, consistent routine, and built trust with her.

Please … only apply if you’ll give her that chance … the time, the patience, and love to transition in to your home.

If you’re interested in applying for Evie, please email in to: protectingprelovedbordercollies@yahoo.com

SHADOW - 9 MONTHS (RESERVED)

Hands up if you’re looking to add a pup to your family! Grab a cuppa, and read on ….
This cuddlebug encourages fuss and hugs, and will lean right into you for more. He likes being handled and enjoys being brushed.
Shadow is crate trained; he currently sleeps well in his crate, all night, in the kitchen. His daily routine embraces regular calm time, where he naps in his crate after every walk, and Shadow is thriving on this lifestyle, which enables a collie to naturally self regulate.
Shadow is currently living with a spayed female and a neutered male and is mostly indifferent towards them, so no issues sharing his home with dogs.
This boy just loves older children - he’s living with a 12 and 15 year old and the three of them have a great relationship.
Shadow has been left for 4 hours, always after being walked, then he’s happy to snooze the time away tucked up in his crate.
He travels well in the car, and prefers to be on his harness/seat belt on the back seat.
Shadow is friendly towards other dogs both on and off the lead, and will exchange sniffs very politely and walk on.
Shadow Pup is untested with livestock, cats and small furries.
Very friendly and cuddly with people, he can show caution with strangers initially, momentarily lowering his head, but then quickly wants to be their best friend!
Unsurprisingly Shadow loves to play - ball, tug toys, and will entertain himself throwing his toys in to the air.
He’s a typical exuberant puppy - he’s learned the basic commands, sit, down, leave, and this will need to be continued/strengthened in his new home.
He recalls really well within a secure field, he’ll benefit from this reinforcing in his new home.
This lovely lad has a great CV for one so young! He shows no issues with separation anxiety, digging, travel sickness, aggression, barking, stalking, and bikes/traffic. Pretty impressive for a 9 month old. He’s a happy soul in the routine his foster has created for him.
Shadow really wants to please you … to do a ‘good job’. He longs to be your ‘good boy’ … to help him in this quest, he’s looking for a family or human/s who will continue supporting him to learn:
* to walk with good manners on the lead
* to teach him the basic collie need of impulse control
* to reinforce puppy mouthing/nipping inhibition
* that he doesn’t need to guard random ‘treasures’ like socks, or a food item stolen off the table!
Shadow can be an only dog, or live with other dogs (bitches must be spayed) with careful introductions.
He can live with dog-savvy (supervised) children of around 10 or above. He’d like to live close by to fields or countryside walks, in a rural, semi rural, village or relatively quiet suburban location.
Shadow is a lovable, super boy, and he’ll bring lots of happiness with a dose of scrumptious collie chaos into your home. He’s waiting patiently to hear from you…..

JESS - 5 YEARS

Jess is an affectionate girl and will readily jump on your knee for cuddles. She’s a worrier, and can get anxious and barky around strangers and other dogs.

She’ll allow you to wash and brush her, and rolls on her back to show you her tummy when the brush comes out!

Jess is an athletic girl and will need a minimum of 6 foot fencing, with a perimeter clear of any items that could be used as vaulting potential.

She is well mannered on her lead, but has never walked off the property, as she lives in the house conservatory, on a farm, with 25 acres of mixed woodland and grass.

Jess has had no experience of traffic, other than farm machinery, and little experience of travel. Her recall is reasonable but does require strengthening. Jess loves to play with her ball, and will happily retrieve it for you.

She shows no evidence of prey drive or guarding issues with food and toys. She’s never mixed with children.

She can be left for 2 hours initially and then gradually build it up.

Jess is not good with other dogs, and isn’t good with people she doesn’t know. She has a history of nipping, so this will need to be proactively managed.

Jess is seeking an adult only calm rural home without too many comings and goings. She is currently living with another dog but can be bossy with him so ideally would be better as an only dog.

If you feel you can offer Jess the right home please email us at protectingprelovedbordercollies@yahoo.com

Elsa - 10 years (RESERVED)

Elsa would make someone a wonderful companion dog, happy to just potter about, meandering along at slow pace and sniffing. She also sometimes enjoys a short game of tuggy, tummy rubs and cuddles. Not interested in energetic games with balls or frisbees.

Elsa needs someone to continue supporting her with reducing her weight.

She happily sleeps in her two beds, one downstairs, and the other on the landing - often switching between the two.

Elsa is ok with children outside of the home, but has never lived with them. She is good with strangers and keen to meet them both inside and outside the home. She will, if not controlled, show the collie trait of nipping at their ankles as they leave, but this can be managed.

Elsa’s recall is good, and she responds to ‘stay close’ when on the lead, but in a new home these commands will need reinforcing. She’ll let you know she needs to toilet by sitting close and staring at you. She’ll allow you to handle her, enjoys a brush but not keen on having her rear end groomed.

Untested with livestock, Elsa will intensely eye cats/small furries, but only chase if they run. Elsa is currently cohabiting with a cat, so may be able to live with a cat with careful introductions.

She can be left for up to 4 hours, and is also fine with fireworks and loud noises.

Not good with other dogs when meeting on-lead. Elsa will initially sniff, then reactively snaps at them. She’s a little guardy around her food, and will let you know with a growl - easily managed by feeding her and stepping well away and leaving her to eat alone.

Elsa dislikes crates, so this would not be a suitable method of transporting her or using in the house. She needs understanding and patience with car journeys, as she tends to find them over-stimulating and will initially be barky and unsettled.

Elsa is seeking a quiet and calm understanding adult home who will accept her quirks in exchange for her companionship and loyalty. She needs to be the only dog so she can have all the cuddles.

SETH - 2 years

Seth, has a lovely temperament , happily interacts with his sibling, Bear, but we wouldn’t place him in a home with another male. He could live with a spayed female, with careful introductions.

Seth is good with people, very energetic as you’d expect from a curious adolescent, affectionate and immensely trainable.

Not suitable to live with cats or small furries and would need to be cautious around livestock until you understand and ‘have the measure’ of him.

Seth is strong on the lead, so this will need some work, he has no guarding issues and has good recall (this will need reinforcing in a new home), and he is fine being left for up to 4 hours.

Seth has had no experience of travel or traffic to date.

He will need time and understanding support from his new carer to transition into a home environment - he currently lives kennelled outdoors.

Seth is seeking a rural or semi-rural home where he could live with sensible dog-savvy children over 10.

In foster in Wales and meet and greet welcome.
