Dogs for Rehoming

We are currently looking for homes for some very special dogs.

These dogs do have issues that will need people who are experienced collie owners.

If you think you may be able to help please contact us, protectingprelovedbordercollies@yahoo.com

Tilly - 9 years

Tilly has recently come into foster with PPBC.

Unfortunately her elderly owners could no longer care for her so she is looking for a new home to call her own.

She is a friendly girl who is still very active and loves nothing more than to play ball with you.

She is good with other dogs and loves people.

Currently in foster in Wales and meet and greets welcome.

Max - 1 year 5 months

Tricolour short coat male.

I’m a clever boy, immensely trainable, and I need to catch up with my age. I wasn’t allowed to be a puppy you see, I had țo stay in a small crate, like a guinea pig, and wee on myself .

Now I need a home where there’s a tolerant but playful resident dog/s, who can be my role model/s, and help to teach me to ‘be a dog’ - I love other dogs!

I had a great play date with a bitch, and it was such fun. I learned to back off when she ‘told me off’ for being too enthusiastic, and the humans looked so pleased with me, it made my heart swell with pride. I long to be someone’s good boy. Someone’s special lad.

I’m a bit of a mouthing monster, as I’m still puppy-like in behaviour, so I need my new humans to be patient, nurturing and kind, but also firm and fair, to help me learn to direct my energy more appropriately. I’m good at training because I really love food and treats!

I was a good boy at the vets, he was like an octopus, handling me all over, and poking me with his listening device, but I didn’t care ‘cos I got treats! I love people, and am excited to see them.

I’m virtually house trained now my EFs have shown me what to do. And I jump up into the car when they ask me to, and travel without issue.

My recall is good, I run straight to the kind humans when they call me in the house or the garden.

I’m told I need collie savvy adult human/s who’ve had experience of raising a pup/teen and can provide me with love, patience, and a solid consistent routine, which includes rest time, so I don’t get over-stimulated. You know what us kids can be like!

I know 3 çommands already, and am so keen to learn more!

Can you make my dream come true, to be loved by my special human/s and be their very best boy?

Please note: Max will have lost all he’s previously known, when he arrives at your door. It’s normal for him to show confusion, anxiety, and his behaviour may regress until they’re settled in to a calm, consistent routine, and have built trust with you.

Please … only apply if you’ll give Max that chance … the time, the patience, and love to transition in to your home.

If you’re interested in applying for Max, please email in for more information about him to: protectingprelovedbordercollies@yahoo.com

Evie - 9 years

B/W spayed medium coated female collie.

Calling all lovers of mature border collies! Stop now, and take a look at the lovely Evie ……

Evie is a good and loving girl for her humans, obeying their instructions most of the time. A touch of selective hearing when her walk is over, but she will always come.

Evie loves children, is good with them, and will follow them around, ever in the hope of a ball game - like many collies, she’s ball obsessed.

Evie adores running around on an empty beach, so out of season coastal trips are definitely on her want list! And Evie is always up for a game of find the treats.

She doesn’t use a crate, has no separation anxiety and can be left for 4 hours.

You’re probably wondering, does she nip? Bite? Chew things? Show toy/food aggression? Bark or howl excessively? Car & bike chase?

The answer is a big fat NO to all of the above.

Evie knows 10 commands and would love to show you how she responds.

Evie is searching for her perfect home, which would be in a rural, even remote setting, with adult human/s with or without dog savvy children, and where she can be the only dog.

Where there’s fields from the door including a secure area where she can run to her heart’s content. And where she’d never be expected to walk around streets - she’s a rural girl at heart you see, and the village or suburban life isn’t for Evie.

She just loves the freedom and the solitude of a country life.

Evie does have some quirks, of course - find me a collie who doesn’t! Full disclosure will be available to applicants.

Can you open your heart to offer Evie her dream home?

Please note: Evie will have lost all she’s previously known, when she arrives at your door. It’s normal for her to show confusion, anxiety, and her behaviour may regress until you’ve settled her in to a calm, consistent routine, and built trust with her.

Please … only apply if you’ll give her that chance … the time, the patience, and love to transition in to your home.

If you’re interested in applying for Evie, please email in to: protectingprelovedbordercollies@yahoo.com

Eira - 17 weeks

Eira is only 17 weeks old and is looking for her forever home.

Eira is deaf but it doesn't bother her and she is a confident, clever little girl. She is already 99% housetrained and gets on well with the other dogs in her foster home. She already knows some sign language and her new home would need to be able to continue with this.

Ideally her new home would have some experience of deaf dogs or willing to learn how to work with her.

She is an adorable bundle of fun and will make someone a wonderful companion.

She is currently in foster in Ammanford in Wales and meet and greets are welcome.

Theo - 18 months

Long coated Tri-colour entire male.

This lovely boy is currently in the wrong environment for a border collie, and his needs are not being met. He has a great temperament, and enjoys a fuss from humans, whether they are friends or strangers, and has never shown any sign of aggression or guarding behaviours at all. He takes his treats with a gentle mouth. He may occasionally bark, at the odd visitor, but is mostly just excited to meet people.

Theo needs collie savvy owner/s who will take the time to understand him, and forge a strong bond. Like all collies, he’s desperate to please, wants to find ‘his people’, but needs active humans in his life that he can count on, to show him boundaries with firm kindness, give him quality time with enrichment activities and a clear daily routine, so his life is both richer and more predictable.

These basic needs being met will give Theo the direction and firm framework he needs to feel safe, happy, enable him to shed some anxiety, and thrive.

Theo would be a good candidate for agility and similar activities, although this is by no means essential.

Theo has a dog walker, who reports that he is a ‘fantastic dog’, this shows how within that window of time with his walker, being given a more enriched and active life, this lovely goofy lad truly flourishes.

Theo is strong on the lead initially, and will need training with this. He would love to be taken to a secure field, whilst in foster, to give him the freedom of countryside/field runs, and to enable strengthening of his recall.

He understands several commands (full details will be available to applicants).

On walks, Theo is friendly with most dogs and wants to play, and he can be left for a good four hours, but this will need building up gradually in a new home.

Theo currently travels using a harness attached to a seatbelt, he was crate trained in a previous home, but he hasn’t been in a crate for this last six months. He’s fine and calm when visiting the vet.

Theo hasn’t had vast experience of children, but has enjoyed being stroked by a 7 year old and did live with a child in a previous home. He is untested around chickens, cattle, sheep, cats and small furries.

Things Theo likes … being brushed, affection, chasing his ball, bone chews, lying on the sofa, running free and sniffing.

Things Theo doesn’t like … traffic, pushchairs, horses, being bored.

Theo is seeking an active home in a rural or semi rural area (edge of village will be considered). He can live as an only dog or we’d consider with other well rounded dog/s with careful introductions. Children over approximately 10, due to his energy levels.

Please note: Theo will have lost all he’s previously known, when he arrives at your door. It’s normal for him to show confusion, anxiety, and his behaviours/training may (temporarily) regress until you’ve settled him in to a calm, consistent routine within your home and built trust with him. Please … only apply if you’ll give him that chance … the time, the patience, to retrain with love, and transition in to your home.

If you’re interested in applying for Theo please email in to protectingprelovedbordercollies@yahoo.com

Daisy - 1 year 8 months

Daisy is a collie x (possibly lab) and is looking for her forever home.

Daisy came to us due to not getting on with the other dog and children in the household

She is friendly girl who loves to play. She is good with most other dogs (but can be selective about who she likes) but will chase cats. She is currently in foster in Wales and anyone interested her would be encouraged to meet her (especially if they have another dog to make sure they get on ok). Daisy needs a quiet adult only home.

If you are interested in Daisy please email us at protectingprelovedbordercollies@yahoo.com

SHADOW - 9 MONTHS

Hands up if you’re looking to add a pup to your family! Grab a cuppa, and read on ….
This cuddlebug encourages fuss and hugs, and will lean right into you for more. He likes being handled and enjoys being brushed.
Shadow is crate trained; he currently sleeps well in his crate, all night, in the kitchen. His daily routine embraces regular calm time, where he naps in his crate after every walk, and Shadow is thriving on this lifestyle, which enables a collie to naturally self regulate.
Shadow is currently living with a spayed female and a neutered male and is mostly indifferent towards them, so no issues sharing his home with dogs.
This boy just loves older children - he’s living with a 12 and 15 year old and the three of them have a great relationship.
Shadow has been left for 4 hours, always after being walked, then he’s happy to snooze the time away tucked up in his crate.
He travels well in the car, and prefers to be on his harness/seat belt on the back seat.
Shadow is friendly towards other dogs both on and off the lead, and will exchange sniffs very politely and walk on.
Shadow Pup is untested with livestock, cats and small furries.
Very friendly and cuddly with people, he can show caution with strangers initially, momentarily lowering his head, but then quickly wants to be their best friend!
Unsurprisingly Shadow loves to play - ball, tug toys, and will entertain himself throwing his toys in to the air.
He’s a typical exuberant puppy - he’s learned the basic commands, sit, down, leave, and this will need to be continued/strengthened in his new home.
He recalls really well within a secure field, he’ll benefit from this reinforcing in his new home.
This lovely lad has a great CV for one so young! He shows no issues with separation anxiety, digging, travel sickness, aggression, barking, stalking, and bikes/traffic. Pretty impressive for a 9 month old. He’s a happy soul in the routine his foster has created for him.
Shadow really wants to please you … to do a ‘good job’. He longs to be your ‘good boy’ … to help him in this quest, he’s looking for a family or human/s who will continue supporting him to learn:
* to walk with good manners on the lead
* to teach him the basic collie need of impulse control
* to reinforce puppy mouthing/nipping inhibition
* that he doesn’t need to guard random ‘treasures’ like socks, or a food item stolen off the table!
Shadow can be an only dog, or live with other dogs (bitches must be spayed) with careful introductions.
He can live with dog-savvy (supervised) children of around 10 or above. He’d like to live close by to fields or countryside walks, in a rural, semi rural, village or relatively quiet suburban location.
Shadow is a lovable, super boy, and he’ll bring lots of happiness with a dose of scrumptious collie chaos into your home. He’s waiting patiently to hear from you…..

MOT - 2 years

Mot came to us from a farm but after some training with sheep did not taken to it so needs to find a non-working home. He is good with other dogs and children. He currently lives in a kennel so would need some house training.

Sbotyn - 2 years

Sbotyn came from a farm but after some training with sheep has not taken to it so needs to find a home. He is good with other dogs and children. He currently lives in a kennel so would need some house training. please email us at protectingprelovedbordercollies@yahoo.com if you are interested in this lovely boy.

Tinker - 1 year

Tinker is a housetrained hugely affectionate boy and will enthusiastically love bomb you and hug you with his paws! He likes to be with his humans, so eager to please, to be a ‘good boy’, enjoys physical contact, handling and brushing.
As you’d expect at a year old, he’s a curious bouncy youngster, loves his toys, will jump up, and needs his energy appropriately channelling by learning his manners, and reinforcing a solid routine and boundaries. He’s such a lovable, friendly lad, and happy to meet strangers and friends alike.
He has reasonable recall, which will need reinforcing. He does pull on the lead, but is responding well to input which needs to continue.
Tinker is guardy with his food, which is being very well managed, by feeding him alone; he’s trained to sit and wait for his food to be placed on the floor, and his release cue to go to eat his food is ‘Good boy’. This routine works really well and will need to be continued.
Tinker has slept inside a home previously, and is currently in a home where his routine is to sleep in an outside kennel.
Tinker shows the collie trait of being sensitive to noises and can be worried by the sound of large vehicles, and tractors in the fields. He is also uncomfortable with other sounds, like sweeping with a brush and the vacuum cleaner.
He’s a good traveller, and sits on the rear seat fastened in to the seat belt with his harness.
He can be left for up to 4 hours if kennelled. If unattended in the home, you’ll need to gradually work up the time he’s left, with him being so young. He’s not crate trained.
Tinker has resource guarding issues with his toys or any object he’s coveting (full detailed info is available to any applicants), particularly when other dogs are around him, this will need sympathetic and careful handling, to stop it escalating to a nip/bite. Presently it’s managed by not allowing Tinker his toys until he’s alone, and being mindful of his body language.
What Tinker needs, above all else, is love and stability. This little lad has had to cope with relentless change in his very short life, through no fault of his own.
He really needs his next home to be his forever home. With a committed, patient owner who’ll invest in him, champion him …. to give Tinker the solid consistent routine he craves, to show him he’s safe, allow him to shine, to be that ‘good boy’ he desperately wants to be, to build his resilience and to bond with his human/s.
Tinker is seeking a quiet but active adult only home (calm, sensible dog-savvy older teenagers/adult children will be considered), where he can be the only dog and get the undivided attention and training he deserves. Opportunities to mix with other dogs occasionally to run and play would be a bonus but not a necessity.
Like many collies, Tinker would benefit from being trained ‘an off switch’, to prevent him getting over-stimulated, which will, in turn, help him to be calm and self-regulate.
Could you be Tinker’s special human? He’ll reward you by being your devoted and loyal companion.

JESS - 5 YEARS

Jess is an affectionate girl and will readily jump on your knee for cuddles. She’s a worrier, and can get anxious and barky around strangers and other dogs.

She’ll allow you to wash and brush her, and rolls on her back to show you her tummy when the brush comes out!

Jess is an athletic girl and will need a minimum of 6 foot fencing, with a perimeter clear of any items that could be used as vaulting potential.

She is well mannered on her lead, but has never walked off the property, as she lives in the house conservatory, on a farm, with 25 acres of mixed woodland and grass.

Jess has had no experience of traffic, other than farm machinery, and little experience of travel. Her recall is reasonable but does require strengthening. Jess loves to play with her ball, and will happily retrieve it for you.

She shows no evidence of prey drive or guarding issues with food and toys. She’s never mixed with children.

She can be left for 2 hours initially and then gradually build it up.

Jess is not good with other dogs, and isn’t good with people she doesn’t know. She has a history of nipping, so this will need to be proactively managed.

Jess is seeking an adult only calm rural home without too many comings and goings. She is currently living with another dog but can be bossy with him so ideally would be better as an only dog.

If you feel you can offer Jess the right home please email us at protectingprelovedbordercollies@yahoo.com

Elsa - 10 years

Elsa would make someone a wonderful companion dog, happy to just potter about, meandering along at slow pace and sniffing. She also sometimes enjoys a short game of tuggy, tummy rubs and cuddles. Not interested in energetic games with balls or frisbees.

Elsa needs someone to continue supporting her with reducing her weight.

She happily sleeps in her two beds, one downstairs, and the other on the landing - often switching between the two.

Elsa is ok with children outside of the home, but has never lived with them. She is good with strangers and keen to meet them both inside and outside the home. She will, if not controlled, show the collie trait of nipping at their ankles as they leave, but this can be managed.

Elsa’s recall is good, and she responds to ‘stay close’ when on the lead, but in a new home these commands will need reinforcing. She’ll let you know she needs to toilet by sitting close and staring at you. She’ll allow you to handle her, enjoys a brush but not keen on having her rear end groomed.

Untested with livestock, Elsa will intensely eye cats/small furries, but only chase if they run. Elsa is currently cohabiting with a cat, so may be able to live with a cat with careful introductions.

She can be left for up to 4 hours, and is also fine with fireworks and loud noises.

Not good with other dogs when meeting on-lead. Elsa will initially sniff, then reactively snaps at them. She’s a little guardy around her food, and will let you know with a growl - easily managed by feeding her and stepping well away and leaving her to eat alone.

Elsa dislikes crates, so this would not be a suitable method of transporting her or using in the house. She needs understanding and patience with car journeys, as she tends to find them over-stimulating and will initially be barky and unsettled.

Elsa is seeking a quiet and calm understanding adult home who will accept her quirks in exchange for her companionship and loyalty. She needs to be the only dog so she can have all the cuddles.

SETH - 2 years

Seth, has a lovely temperament , happily interacts with his sibling, Bear, but we wouldn’t place him in a home with another male. He could live with a spayed female, with careful introductions.

Seth is good with people, very energetic as you’d expect from a curious adolescent, affectionate and immensely trainable.

Not suitable to live with cats or small furries and would need to be cautious around livestock until you understand and ‘have the measure’ of him.

Seth is strong on the lead, so this will need some work, he has no guarding issues and has good recall (this will need reinforcing in a new home), and he is fine being left for up to 4 hours.

Seth has had no experience of travel or traffic to date.

He will need time and understanding support from his new carer to transition into a home environment - he currently lives kennelled outdoors.

Seth is seeking a rural or semi-rural home where he could live with sensible dog-savvy children over 10.

In foster in Wales and meet and greet welcome.
